1. New York University Grossman School of Medicine (New York, NY)

With just a 2.2% acceptance rate, the Grossman School of Medicine is one of the most selective medical schools in the country.

4. Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (New York, NY) 

Not every medical school has to be affiliated with a university. The Icahn School of Medicine proves this point. 

Ranked at #11 for Best Medical Schools for Research, they are highly regarded for their medical education. Icahn offers the MD, Ph.D. , master’s degree, and specialty programs allowing students to pursue their interests. 

They are part of Mount Sinai Health System which includes eight hospital campuses and many institutions. Consequently, students won’t have any trouble finding clinical opportunities. 

Unlike most medical schools, they introduce clinical training from the first day of school. They integrate pre-clinical and clinical years throughout the basic medical and science courses. 

Icahn offers simulation education to bridge the gap between real-life and classroom experiences. Learners get to engage in patient care from diagnosis to treatment. Their training sites include the BronxCare Health System, The Brooklyn Hospital Center, and more. 

5. Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, NY) 

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine defines itself as a “research-intensive medical school.” They don’t simply teach basic physician care. 

Its mission is to help students become phenomenal doctors and create new medical knowledge. Einstein requires MD students to complete a scholarly paper from mentor-guided research.

Their school adopts a unique “revolutionary biopsychosocial model” to medicine. This helps physicians approach their practice holistically since they recognize the whole person. They analyze the disease and pain through the biological, psychological, and social models. 

As a result, students are trained to take a holistic approach to medicine. They won’t treat individuals from just a physiological point of view but concentrate on having a healthy, well-rounded cure.
